1. Will 4X2 Mahindra Thar bring any changes to its Exterior profile?
The Thar’s upcoming 4×2 version will look the same as the previous ones. It will feature the same Twin Peaks logo as now seen on the Thar’s steering wheel, hubcaps of the alloy wheels, and key fob. Aside from that, you will notice all black bumpers. Previously, it had a contrasting silver shade on its front and rear bumpers in the middle, but the current one has completely black ones. Talking about the paint options, Napoli Black, Galaxy Grey, Aqua Marine, and Red are indeed available.
2. Will 4X2 Mahindra Thar bring changes to its Interior/ Features?
The interior and features remain the same as the previous model, with 4X4 as standard. The 4X4 selector has been replaced on the inside by an elongated cupholder. All of the changes made with the Thar and the new Twin Peaks logo, which we previously discussed, remain in effect. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, MID on the instrument cluster, and a tyre pressure monitoring system is included.
3. Mahindra Thar 4X2- Safety Features
Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, roll cage, panic braking signal, anti-theft alarm, passenger airbag deactivation switch, and ESP with roll-over mitigation are all standard safety features.
4. What are the Engine Options available in Mahindra Thar 4X2?
1.5 litre Diesel Engine
The base variants of the Mahindra Thar 2023 will get a new 1.5-litre diesel engine with 113 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission, as well as a 4X2 drivetrain. The XUV300 and Marazzo are powered by this same 1.5L diesel engine.
2.0-litre Turbo Petrol Engine
In entry-level trims, Mahindra will also offer the existing 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with both transmission options and 4X2 capability.
5. Mahindra Thar 4X2- Price/ Launch Date
The 4X2 variant with a 2.0-litre petrol engine may cost around Rs. 1 lakh less than the 4X4 variant. The Thar 1.5L diesel with a 4X2 drivetrain is expected to cost between Rs. 10-12 lakhs (ex-showroom). Concerning the launch, it is expected to take place on January 26th, 2023, much before the Maruti Jimny is released in India.
6. Mahindra Thar 4X2 vs Maruti Suzuki Jimny
The addition of a 4X2 drivetrain and a smaller engine to the Mahindra Thar is a significant step forward, especially given that competition will come from Maruti when they launch the Jimny. With the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny just around the corner, offering Thar at a lower price point would attract more customers. Because of its smaller size and engine, Jimny was expected to undercut Thar by a significant margin. However, The Thar’s 4X2 configuration will now set a tougher competition.
