Mahindra has finally entered the EV segment with the introduction of its XUV400 electric mid-sized SUV. In India, the price starts at 15.99 Lakh. XUV400 is available in ten different colours. Furthermore, the XUV400 has received a 5 Star (Global NCAP) star NCAP Rating for safety.

Mahindra XUV 400- Exterior Design
In terms of design, the XUV400 is based on the XUV300. It has a similar body structure, but it has a few distinguishing features on the outside. LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights to surround a blanked-off front grille. The copper roof, accents, and twin peaks emblem are all distinctive features of the XUV400.

A 7.0-inch touchscreen with Mahindra’s AdrenoX software, a single-pane sunroof, and connected car technology with over-the-air (OTA) updates are among the features available on the XUV 400. As safety equipment, it includes up to six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, an IP67 rating for the battery pack, and ISOFIX anchorages.

The Mahindra XUV400 has two battery packs, 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh, which power the front axle-mounted electric motor, which produces 150hp and 310Nm of torque. The XUV400 is said to be capable of sprinting from 0-100kph in 8.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 150kph. The XUV400 also has three driving modes: Fun, Fast, and Fearless, which change the steering and throttle response, as well as the amount of regenerative braking.
According to the Indian driving cycle (MIDC), the XUV400 with the 34.5kWh battery has a claimed range of 375km, while the one with the 39.4kWh battery has a claimed range of 456km (MIDC). Using a 50kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 0 to 80% in 50 minutes. Furthermore, the electric SUV can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 6 hours 30 minutes with a 7.2kW charger or 13 hours with a 3.3kW AC charger.

However, the Nexon EV’s range will be increased via software update, but the main shocking revelation is that it still falls short of the XUV 400’s range. Aside from that, both cars are 5 star safety rated, but there are a few areas where the Nexon may outperform the XUV 400, such as Wireless Charging, Ventilated Seats, and a Digital Drive Selector.

Prices for the Mahindra XUV400 were revealed at the recent launch, and the Tata Motors Nexon EV has been reduced. Nexon EV Prime prices start at Rs 14.49 lakh and go up to Rs 16.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Nexon EV Max has also been reduced in price, starting at Rs 16.49 lakh and rising to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
