MG Motor India revealed the first teaser of the upcoming SUV, revealing a glimpse of the interior, which will be distinguished by the largest-in-segment 14″ HD infotainment system. The screen is oriented in portrait mode, as is the system in Tesla vehicles. The 2022 Hector, which is expected to be released by the end of this year, will also include new features and ADAS.
With a panoramic sunroof, a 10.4-inch infotainment display with OTA updates, a wireless charger, ventilated seats, Hinglish voice commands, and an eSIM for connected features, the MG Hector is already a very well-equipped car in the segment. On the design front, we anticipate that MG will update the front fascia, including the grille, headlights, and tail section with new LED tail-lights.

On the inside, we expect MG to spruce things up with slightly more premium interiors with a slight redesign. The infotainment screen might get larger with slightly better graphics on the software front. The first look of the inside has now been revealed. It gets the largest in the segment 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The gear lever is also new. The dashboard is all black and is seen with the new design.
2022 MG Hector- Engine/ Powertrains
Mechanically, the new 2022 MG Hector will be identical to the current model. It will have two engine choices. A 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 140bhp and 250 Nm is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. On higher variants, this engine also gets a mild hybrid option, which includes brake regeneration and a start/stop feature.
The diesel engine produces 168bhp and 350 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This is a source of contention for MG, as most competitors offer an automatic transmission with a diesel powertrain. For the first time, the MG Hector 2022 will be available with a diesel automatic transmission. The petrol engine will be available with either a manual or a CVT transmission.

The new MG Hector SUV will be released around the festive season in 2022. it will compete in the D1 SUV segment with the segment leader Mahindra XUV700 as well as Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Jeep Compass, and the newly released Mahindra Scorpio-N, which is highlighted as the “Big daddy of all SUVs”.
