The Hyundai Tucson 2022 has finally arrived. The new Hyundai Tucson SUV has priced at Rs 27.69 lakh in India (ex-showroom). The new SUV is now available at a reservation of Rs 50,000. If we look at the pricing, there are a lot of other options in the market, but the Jeep Compass is a single product that stands out in terms of its looks, capability, features, and reliability. As a result, the Jeep Compass appears to be a direct rival of the recently launched Hyundai Tucson. Here’s a detailed comparison of the two vehicles-
2022 Hyundai Tucson vs Jeep Compass- Exterior Design
Hyundai’s Curvaceous Sportiness design identity is expressed in Tucson’s new exterior styling. The SUV has half-mirror daytime running lamps (DRLs) that are integrated into the parametric grille and are only visible when illuminated. The car has a long hood and level roofline, as well as a long wheelbase. It also has a chrome line that runs from the side mirrors to the C pillar, gradually increasing in thickness as it gets closer to the C pillar.
The kinetic design theme continues to the rear, where the full-width tail lamp incorporates half-hidden triangular shapes that are only visible when lit, similar to the DRL. To achieve this design theme, the Hyundai logo has been moved up and integrated into the glass, while the wiper has also been moved up and hidden beneath the rear spoiler.
Whereas, on the other hand, Jeep Compass has been refined and is ready to dazzle. The Jeep Compass stands out from the crowd with a two-toned dark grey contrast roof, full LED package projector headlamps, and a striking alloy design available in a variety of body-colored styles and finishes. With its aggressive stature and a signature black Hood Decal, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is a sure-fire head-turner. With the Trail Rated badge, no terrain is too difficult for this SUV to conquer. Moreover, in comparison to the Tuscon, the SUV appears to have a more bold and rugged exterior profile.
2022 Hyundai Tucson vs Jeep Compass- Dimensions
Dimensions | Hyundai Tucson | Jeep Compass |
Length | 4630 mm | 4405 mm |
Width | 1865 mm | 1818 mm |
Height | 1665 mm | 1640 mm |
Wheelbase | 2755 mm | 2636 mm |
The Hyundai Tucson is obviously taller, wider, and longer than the Compass, with a longer wheelbase translating to a larger and more spacious cabin. In fact, Tucson will have the segment’s longest wheelbase. This means that Tucson will have an advantage in terms of cabin space and comfort over not only the Compass but also the other competitors.
2022 Hyundai Tucson vs Jeep Compass- Features/ Interior
The Hyundai Tucson is one of the most feature-rich offerings in its segment, and for good reason. Tucson, in comparison to the Compass, brings a lot to the game. LED lighting, ventilated and heated electric seats with memory function, a 10.25-inch fully loaded touch infotainment, and a 10.25-inch digital MID, as well as a premium sound setup with BOSE surround system (8 Speakers), Dual zone climate control, Blue Link connected car tech, 64 colours ambient lighting, 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, panoramic sunroof, and much more are among the highlights.
Whereas, on the other hand, the Jeep Compass, too, is well-equipped, with a 10.1-inch fully loaded touch infotainment system, five custom profiles with OTA updates, wireless charging, a 360-degree remote camera, an Alpine sound system, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, connected car technology, auto-dimming IRVM, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, a powered liftgate, and powered front seats with ventilation and memory settings, among other features.
2022 Hyundai Tucson vs Jeep Compass- Safety Features
Tucson’s main advantage is its ADAS features. Tucson is the first Hyundai vehicle to include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It includes front collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, high beam assist, safe exit warning, smart cruise control, lane follow assist, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assists, giving it an advantage over the Compass. Regardless, the competition is fierce. Therefore the Jeep Compass comes with 6 standard airbags including side-curtain front and rear airbags on offer.
2022 Hyundai Tucson vs Jeep Compass- Engine/ Powertrain Options
Both the Tucson and the Compass compete in terms of powertrain. In terms of petrol engines, the Tucson offers a larger 2.0-liter unit that is unfortunately naturally aspirated, as opposed to the Compass’s smaller but turbocharged 1.4-liter unit. The outcome is as expected, with the Compass providing more power and torque thanks to the inbuilt turbo. Furthermore, the Compass includes a 6-speed manual transmission, which the Tucson does not have. The Compass has a 7-speed DCT transmission, while the Tucson has a 6-speed AT transmission. So, when it comes to gasoline, Tucson appears to be a good option.
Both vehicles, however, have 2.0-liter diesel engines. Tucson, on the other hand, has more power and torque. The Tucson has only an 8-speed AT transmission, whereas the Compass has both a 6-speed manual and an AT transmission. Tucson appears to be a better option for diesel enthusiasts. In terms of drivetrain, both vehicles provide AWD as well as FWD.
