Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI Manual Drive Experience: What’s the Mileage ?

We conducted a comprehensive city test on the Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI, driving it for 100 km, and we’ve got some exciting news. Let’s dive into the full story.

Gone are the days when people opted for diesel cars for high performance and torque. In the era where diesel cars are phasing out, everyone desires a powerful petrol SUV. The Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI, blending safety, performance, and handling, also boasts impressive fuel efficiency.

Having driven the Taigun 1.0 TSI with a manual transmission for over 600 km in the last few days, here’s an honest review.

Taigun 1.0 TSI : Engine Performance:

Certainly, the 1.0 TSI engine may not shock you and pin you to the seat with its performance like the 1.5 TSI from Volkswagen does. However, this engine is remarkably refined, and smooth, with almost no vibration or harshness. Moreover, with the manual transmission, you will love how it revs and performs, especially when overtaking. Just downshifts, and it eases after a slight turbo spooling. In the Taigun, the 999cc turbo-petrol engine boasts figures of 115hp and 178Nm.

Is Taigun 1.0 TSI Fuel Efficient?

Now, since it’s smaller in displacement, it’s going to save you a few bucks, but wait, for that, you have to exhibit some gentle driving characteristics. This is the same engine that can give you 20-21 kmpl of fuel efficiency, and at the same time, it can even dip to single-digit fuel efficiency. It perfectly depends on how you are driving it. Just cruise and it will give you a decent fuel efficiency number.

Talking about our fuel efficiency test, the Taigun 1.0 TSI manual gave us approximately 16.66 kmpl of fuel efficiency when driving 101 km in the traffic of Delhi, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad. The car had already covered somewhere around 15,000 km, and I drove the car without any harsh acceleration, using momentum for overtaking. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see the mileage of the car. You can also watch our full video, the link to which is mentioned below.

Space and Comfort:

Talking about space and comfort, the car is comfortable for five passengers. However, for long journeys, I would suggest having four passengers in the car. This will make your trips more enjoyable with greater comfort. The seats are very comfortable.

Driving Dynamics:

One of the few things you will like about the car is its driving dynamics. The steering feedback makes it a joy, especially when accelerating at high speeds around corners. The ground clearance is high, but the suspension tuning makes the car feel planted without any body roll. The brakes are good for the 1.0 TSI. However, for the 1.5 GT version, all four disc brakes should be there.

So, if you are someone who is looking for a car with good performance, safety, and decent fuel efficiency, then you might want to consider the 1.0 TSI version of the Taigun.
