1. Mahindra Scorpio-N
Mahindra has announced that its new Mahindra Scorpio SUV, the Mahindra Scorpio-N, will be released in India on June 27. We reported on this earlier today, and now the Indian automaker has confirmed the price reveal date. Furthermore, the company has shared images of the new Mahindra Scorpio-N, revealing additional information about the new SUV. Furthermore, the current generation Mahindra Scorpio will be sold under a new name, Mahindra Scorpio Classic. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N will be available with both petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and 4×4 capability.
The new Mahindra Scorpio N is built on a new body-on-frame platform and will be outfitted with modern features and cutting-edge technology, as well as a new exterior and interior design. The new Mahindra Scorpio-exterior N’s is quite bold, based on the same boxy silhouette as before. Unlike the Mahindra XUV700, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N has a new grille with six slats and the new Mahindra logo in the centre, with a honeycomb mesh for the air dams below.
The Scorpio-N now has LED twin-pod projector headlights as well as C-shaped LED fog lights. The hood has strong lines that emphasise the SUV’s stance. There’s also a hint of chrome at the front and on the sides of the door handles. The black cladding and silver accents add to the SUV’s overall rugged appeal, while the chrome accents on the beltline add a touch of premium-ness. The Mahindra Scorpio-N rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
2. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Maruti-Suzuki is stepping up its game in the SUV segment, with two new SUVs on the way. The new Vitara Brezza, which is expected to go on sale this month, will be the first. The new Vitara Brezza will receive a significant design update while maintaining the current model’s silhouette. The sub-4-metre SUV will also get a slew of new technologies to help it compete with its rivals.
The spied Vitara Brezza features a redesigned front bumper with a silver skid plate, as well as new headlamps with dual J-shaped DRLs. The front fog lamps are also housed in a smaller housing. The car retains its original shape along the sides while getting beefier-looking squared-off wheel arches. All sides of the car have black cladding in the lower part, and the rear has a silver skid plate. In addition, the subcompact SUV rides on redesigned dual tone alloy wheels with a swirl-pattern design. On top of the car, there are also silver roof rails, and the rear quarter glass is now larger.
The new Vitara Brezza will feature a dual-jet 1.5-litre petrol engine under the hood, and similar to the Ertiga & XL6, the engine will produce 102 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The power will likely be transmitted via a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox
3. Citroen C3
Citroen India is preparing to launch the new C3 premium hatchback, which will go on sale in India on July 20, 2022. The Citroen C3 will be the French automaker’s second model in India, following the C5 Aircross mid-size SUV last year. The Citroen C3 India-spec model was officially unveiled today, and interested customers will be able to book the premium hatchback beginning July 1. Unlike the C5 Aircross, the upcoming C3 will be entirely manufactured in India, with high levels of localisation, at the company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu.
Citroen has also revealed the engine options for the upcoming C3, which will feature two 1.2-litre Puretech petrol engines. While the first will be a naturally aspirated engine tuned to produce around 81 bhp and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The C3 will also receive a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The turbo petrol version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds. In terms of fuel economy, the 1.2-litre NA engine claims to return 19.8 kmpl, while the turbo petrol engine returns 19.4 kmpl.
In terms of features, the C3 gets a stick-out infotainment display with a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen unit. . The car also gets a flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel, along with other features like auto climate control, a USB charger and a 12V socket among others.
4. Toyota Hyryder
Toyota will unveil the Hyryder on July 1, with the Maruti version following soon after. Toyota’s Hyryder will be powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid technology options. The mild-hybrid motor will have the segment’s first all-wheel-drive option, while the strong-hybrid power unit, which will include a powerful electric motor, will only drive the front wheels.
According to our sources, the 1.5-litre engine in these SUVs will be Maruti’s latest 1.5-litre K15C. The claim is justified, given that the mild hybrid power figures are the same as the Ertiga and XL6, and the strong hybrid figures are the same as the international-spec Vitara Hybrid. The mild-hybrid engine will be available with a six-speed manual and a torque converter automatic transmission, while the more powerful mill will be available with a six-speed CVT. The styling of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder may be similar to that of the most recent crop of Toyota SUVs sold in international markets.
5. Hyundai Tucson
The new Tucson will have a daring, radical design that adheres to Hyundai’s design language of sensual sportiness.’ The Hyundai Tucson may not be a big seller in India, but it is the Korean brand’s second best seller in the United States and Europe. That pretty much sums up Hyundai’s approach to design and level of sophistication. Before we begin, the third-generation Tucson recently received a facelift in India, and we anticipate that the new-generation model will arrive on our shores within the next few months.
Notably, the new-generation Hyundai Tucson is larger than before as well being around 20 mm longer at 4,500.88 mm and around 15 mm wider at 1,864.36 mm. It’s also around 5 mm taller than before at 1,651 mm while the wheelbase is up by 10.16 mm at 2,679.7 mm.
