Tata Punch rival Hyundai Casper micro-SUV revealed

Hyundai has revealed the exterior design of its smallest SUV yet named the Hyundai Casper. The first micro-SUV from Hyundai is likely to make its way to India this year. According to Hyundai, the name “Casper” is taken from the Casper skateboarding technique.

The Dimension of Casper is 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height. When launched in India, Casper will hit the Micro SUV segment which is currently in news because of the upcoming Tata Punch ( Production version of Tata HBX concept ).

 the Hyundai Casper is shorter than even the Santro.
  •  Hyundai Casper is based on the K1 compact platform that also underpins the Hyundai Santro and Grand i10 Nios in India.
  • For Indian markets, Casper will most likely to be offered with a choice of two engines –
    • a 1.1 litre MPI petrol engine from Santro or a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol from grandi10 Nios.
    • a 1.0 litre T-GDI from Hyundai Venue with slighly lower power and torque outputs as compared to venue.
  • The Hyundai Casper will first launch in South Korea on 15 September where it will get 2 engine options ie. the regular model (1.0 MPI) and the active model (1.0 T-GDI, turbo model).
  • Casper will primarily rival the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.
  • Prices expected to be in the range of Rs 5 – 8 lakh (ex-showroom)

Micro SUV segment is back in limelight

After so many flop cars in the miro SUV segment, the segment is all set to back in the Limelight, thanks to the Upcoming highly anticipated cars Tata Punch and Hyundai Casper. The Punch and Casper both will get only petrol engines. However, the electric versions of both cars are rumoured to be launched in a couple of years.

This segment has also the Mahindra KUV NXT and Maruti Suzuki Ignis out of which KUV is performing well in sales figures while the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is showing only decent results.
