The recently launched Tata Nexon EV Max, as the name suggests, is a long-range version of the Nexon EV, powered by a 40.5 kWh battery and an electric motor producing 143 PS and 250 Nm torque. The MG ZS EV, on the other hand, has a larger IP69 50.3 kWh battery pack with a peak power of 176.75 PS, giving it an advantage.

With the Nexon EV max, Tata offers two charging options: standard 3.3kWh and 7.2kWh AC fast charger. The Nexon EV Max’s battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80% in 56 minutes using any 50 kW DC fast charger, 15 hours using a 3.3kWh charger, and 5-6 hours using a 7.2kWh AC fast charger.

The MG ZS EV comes in two trim levels, and the starting price is even higher than the top trim level of the Tata Nexon EV Max. Of course, the larger battery pack justifies the higher price.

The Tata Nexon EV Max receives new Z connect 2.0 connected car technology, which includes more than 48 connected car features. Furthermore, the SUV includes an auto/manual DTC check, smartwatch integration, monthly vehicle reports, a charging limit, and other features. The top-tier XZ+ LUX model gets an electric sunroof, an air purifier, and ventilated front seats. The MG ZS EV features a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, and other features.
Verdict: Which one is better?
Though Tata Nexon has a smaller battery pack than MG ZS EV, there isn’t much of a difference in their range to justify paying 4-5 lakh rupees more for MG ZS EV. Even the top trim level of the Tata Nexon EV max costs almost 3 lakh rupees less than the base trim level of the MG ZS EV. So, in terms of price, Tata Nexon EV max would be a great option for those who cannot stretch their budget to purchase MG ZS EV.
However, if you don’t have a budget constraint, the MG ZS EV is a better option than the Tata Nexon EV Max in terms of space, practicality, features, and, of course, better Range.
