The Ziptron powertrain that powers the Nexon EV is now also used in the new Tigor EV
The improved range, which is expected to be close to 300 km on a single full charge, is undoubtedly the most significant feature of the new model. In the company’s electric vehicle portfolio for India, the Tigor EV will be positioned below the Nexon EV. The company announced the Xpres-T EV just a few days ago, but it will only be sold to fleet operators. The Tata Tigor EV, on the other hand, will be available for customer (private) purchases, and will be powered by the same Ziptron powertrain as the Nexon EV. However, power is expected to be reduced to around 100 horsepower, with the battery pack remaining at 30.2kWh capacity. For added convenience, the new sedan will be equipped with fast charging capabilities.
Why an update?
The Tigor EV all-electric sedan was first introduced to government officials and operators a few years ago, but it was only made available for the general public in 2019. Due to range and performance limitations, however, the Tigor EV saw very limited sales. As a result, the company will introduce the new Tigor EV, which will attract the potential buyers.
Nexon EV and Tigor EV to share same powertrains
The new Tata Tigor EV will share its Ziptron powertrain with the Nexon EV. The power output, on the other hand, may be reduced to around 100 horsepower, while the battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged.
Key Features of Tigor EV?
The new Tigor EV will have 14-inch steel wheels with blue accents and projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The new Tigor EV’s interior will have a touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as a Harman sound system that will attract the audio lovers. Automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and electrically adjustable ORVMs are also included in the Tigor EV.
