In year 2016 ,Toyota Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation started a partnership in and signed an agreement in August 2019 for a capital alliance to establish and promote long-term cooperation in field of Automotive Industry across the globe.
Under the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and Maruti Suzuki have been sharing cars using Badge Engineering. After the launch of Glanza and Urban Cruiser , Toyota is now ready to launch Belta, based on Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Now as per a trademark application filed by Toyota, The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Could Be Rebadged & Sold As The Toyota Belta.
Under the hood, there will be no mechanical changes.The Toyota Belta will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Ciaz that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options might include a five-speed manual unit and a four-speed torque converter automatic unit.
Apart from this, Minor cosmetic changes are expected to be made on the rebadged version of Ciaz. While the front grille design, headlamp and fog lamp setups will remain unchanged, it will feature chromed Toyota’s Insignia. The Belta might also be equipped with newly-designed alloy wheels.
