With the rising cost of fuel, going electric is a prudent choice. However, the choice is limited due to a lack of infrastructure and the high initial cost of ownership. So, what is one’s option if they want to churn out more kilometres on the odometer while still having a budget-friendly ride? So here comes the CNG. Maruti Suzuki has rolled out several factory-fitted cars with S-CNG technology, the most recent of which is the Dzire. In this article, we compare the two most popular compact sedans, the Maruti Dzire CNG and the Hyundai Aura CNG, and discuss which one is a better fit for you.

Design
Maruti Dzire received a facelift last year, with a revised exterior design and a significant mechanical change. Dzire’s design is straightforward and uncomplicated. The halogen headlights are at the front, followed by a large grille with a chrome surround. It lacks fog lights at the bottom but receives the silver-finished surround found on higher variants.
On the side, you’ll notice steel wheels with wheel covers, followed by body-coloured door handles. LED taillights and a thick chrome strip running across the taillights are standard at the rear. Overall, the Dzire appears to be more attractive than the Aura.
Hyundai Aura, on the other hand, takes a funkier approach to design. It may please some, but the majority of the Indian market did not understand its radical design. It has halogen headlights upfront, as well as boomerang LED DRLs. The front is more angular than the Dzire’s, and fog lights add to the advantage.
Moving to the side, it gets steel wheels with wheel covers and door handles that match the body colour. It misses the indicators on the ORVMs and instead lands on the fenders. The design appears unfinished in the back, and it appears to be a rush job. However, you do get LED taillights, which its rival also has. Overall, it has a subjective design approach where some may find it interesting while others will stick to other options present in the market.
Safety
Both vehicles come standard with dual airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, a two-star Global NCAP rating, front seat belt warning, child seat anchor points, a speed-sensing door lock, a child safety lock, and other features. The Maruti Dzire outperforms the Hyundai Aura in this category by offering keyless entry rather than the remote offered by the Hyundai Aura.
