Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV- What’s your Pick?

The Tata Tiago EV is one of the first cars that comes to mind when it comes to affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in India. However, the Tata Tiago EV now has a new competitor in the form of the Citroen e-C3, making it the French automaker’s third model in India.

The Citroen eC3 is the biggest car in terms of dimensions. It is wider, taller, and has the longest wheelbase, which should result in more spacious cabin space than the Tata Tiago EV. When it comes to exterior styling, neither of the EVs differs significantly from the ICE Engine models.

LED DRLs, height adjustable driver’s seat, touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car technology, steering mounted controls, 4-speakers, digital instrument cluster, AC with heater, tilt steering, dual-airbags, ABS with EBD, and other features are standard in both vehicles.

However, the eC3 has a larger touchscreen (10.2 inches) and wireless integration support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which the Tiago EV lacks.

Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV- Performance/ Claimed Range

The electric motor in the Tiago EV Medium Range produces 61 hp and 110 Nm, while the Long Range variant produces 75 hp and 114 Nm. Citroen eC3 on the other hand produces 57 hp and 143 Nm. The Tiago EV Long Range outperforms the competition with a 0-60 kmph acceleration time of 5.7 seconds. The Citroen eC3 takes 6.8 seconds, while the Tiago EV Medium Range takes 6.2 seconds.

Citroen claims a driving range of 320 km. The Tiago EV comes close with a claimed range of 315 km for the Long Range version and 250 km for the Medium Range version.

Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV- Battery Specifications/ Charging Time

Citroen offers a 29.2 kWh battery pack with the eC3. Tata Motors is offering two battery packs with the Tiago EV. There are two ranges: medium and long. The battery capacity of the Medium Range is 19.2 kWh, while the battery capacity of the Long Range is 24 kWh.

Citroen eC3 takes 10 hours and 30 minutes with a 15A socket, Tiago EV Medium Range takes 6 hours and 54 minutes, and Tiago EV Long Range takes 8 hours and 40 minutes. When using DC fast charging, topping up from 10% to 80% takes 57 minutes on both vehicles.

Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago EV- Pricing

The Tiago EV is currently priced between Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). However, because the prices were only for the first 10,000 customers, they may be raised soon. Whereas the Citroen eC3 price is undisclosed, but it is expected to be between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
