After the launch of the Volkswagen Polo mk6 facelift last month, the German Auto-maker is all set to launch the pocket rocket version of Polo known as the Volkswagen Polo GTI. The 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI facelift has been teased for the first time, ahead of its global debut at the end of June 2021.
On the outside, the 2022 Volkswagen Polo GTI will get a similar styling treatment as the updated Polo, obviously with the GTI badges. This means at the front you will get a pair of refreshed LED headlights with matrix technology, dubbed IQ Light, and a red coloured ‘GTI’ badging on the grille. At the rear, the facelifted Polo GTI will get a pair of wider LED tail-light extending into the tailgate with a GTI badge under the Volkswagen logo, and dual exhaust tips. Apart from this, it will also get 17-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, you can expect that the GTI will have a Digital Cockpit which measures 10.25”.You will also get an updated 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering all the latest connectivity options.
Under the hood, the Standard 2021 Polo gets 3 types of engines – 1.0L NA engine,1.0 TSI engine, and a 1.0L TGI engine. However, the Polo GTI is a pocket rocket version of Polo so it is natural that it will get the most powerful engine in the Polo Lineup. The GTI version of Polo will get a 2-litre EA888 four-cylinder engine with 197bhp of Power and 319 N-m of Torque with a 6 speed DSG automatic transmission.
There is no official word from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India regarding the launch of the 2022 Polo and Polo GTI in India. They are currently focusing on the SUV segments thereby launching Skoda Kushaq next month and Volkswagen Taigun in August 2021.
