Overview
Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the second generation model of its entry-level SUV “GLA” in India. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA made its debut in India at Auto Expo 2020. It will be locally assembled at the Mercedes plant in Chakan near Pune.

Dimensions
The Second Generation GLA is 15 mm shorter in length, 10 mm narrower, 104 mm taller than the first-generation model. However, despite its short length, the wheelbase has been extended by 30mm, Thanks to shorter overhangs at the front and rear.
Exterior
This 2021 GLA gets a new design language which makes it look bigger, bolder, and more SUV-ish than its first generation.
At the front, it gets the slimmer Multibeam LED headlamps, structured lines that run across its exterior, refreshed bumpers, and a similar radiator grille that we have already witnessed on the 2021 A-Class Limousine. At the back, we get the Impressive new taillights that are divided into two parts.
The Mercedes GLA rides on the same platform as the 2021 A-Class Limousine.
Interior
On the inside, We get a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system which are joined to form a big display. We also get a dual sunroof setup, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging, active braking assist, seven airbags, hill start assist, and a 360-degree camera.
What’s under the hood ?
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be offered in two variants — GLA 200 and GLA 220 d.
GLA 200 : It is the petrol variant of GLA which comes with a 1.3 Litre turbocharged engine that produced 163bhp and 250Nm paired with a 7-speed DCT Automatic transmission.
GLA 220 d : It is the diesel variant of GLA which comes with a 2.0-litre Inline 4 cylinder diesel engine producing 190bhp and 400Nm.This engine option will come with 4 wheel drive option.
AMG GLA 35 4MATIC : It is the fastest among all variants that can do 0 to 100 kmph in 5.1 seconds. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor which produces 306bhp of power and 400Nm of torque.
Launch and Expected Price
Since at this moment we all are aware of the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India which may peak between May 11-15 with 33-35 lakh total ‘active” cases by the end of May 2021. Therefore we can expect the launch of 2021 GLA in June 2021 with an estimated Introductory price of Rs 33.50 Lakh(Ex-showroom).
