Spent the last week with the Taigun GT 1.5 TSI, taking the media drive unit with 17,000 km on the odometer before our trip to my hometown in Uttarakhand with my family. Covered over 700 km, including hills and city driving, and now I’m sharing my honest opinion about this car.
Volkswagen Taigun GT Mileage
Contrary to expectations, the Taigun GT showcased an impressive fuel efficiency of 14 kmpl throughout our journey. Considering the high power and torque figures, the car’s performance with four passengers and a load of luggage on hilly terrains was commendable. Even on non-existent roads, the Taigun held its own, with tire-screeching hill climbs that added an extra thrill to our adventure.
On the expressway, it can easily achieve 16-17 kmpl at speeds of 80-100 kmph, thanks to its Active Cylinder Technology.
Volkswagen Taigun Comfort
If you want to truly enjoy your trip, the car comfortably accommodates four adults. We felt at ease during our 8-9 hour journey with 4 passengers, though for short trips, 5 passengers can travel.
While the car has a decent-sized sunroof, I wish it had a larger panoramic sunroof for enjoying the sunlight, especially during cold winters in the hills.
Taigun Boot Space: The Taigun offers a boot space of 385 litres.
Volkswagen Taigun GT : Engine Performance
The engine performed exceptionally well, with a slight initial lag in the DSG transmission during hill overtaking. After a brief moment of turbo spooling, it effortlessly overtakes 3-4 vehicles at once, making it a standout feature.
Overall, the car was fantastic, earning a strict ‘yes’ from me and my family.
