While the Indian car enthusiasts ( including me ) are still praising the old fifth gen Volkswagen Polo, the already outdated sixth-generation Polo has been given a mid-life update for 2021 in International Markets. This sixth gen Volkswagen polo was launched in 2017.
Coming to the facelift , the 2021 Volkswagen Polo gets refreshed LED headlights ( standard across all trims ) ,new front and rear bumpers, redesigned tailgate and LED tail-lights. The front LEDs are available with matrix technology for the first time in the Polo, dubbed IQ Light.
Wheelbase of Polo facelift remains unchanged, but the facelifted version is slightly longer, due to its revised bumpers.You get 16 ″ alloys in higher variants, while the lower ones came with a 15 ″steel rims.
At the inside, the Polo mk6 facelift will have a Digital Cockpit which is standard across all trims but It measures 8 “in the lower variants and grows to 10.25” depending in top-end variant.You also get the updated 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, offering all the latest connectivity options. A 9.2in version is available as an option.
Under the hood , the 2021 Polo gets 3 types of engines.
- 1.0-liter naturally aspirated one that produces 80 bhp and 93 N-m of torque delivered through a 5 speed manual transmission.
- 1.0 TSI offered with 108 bhp of power and 200 N-m, available with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
- 1-litre TGI natural gas-powered engine with 90 bhp of power and160 Nm of torque.
Apart from this , the GTI version of Polo will get 2-litre EA888 four-cylinder engine with 197bhp of Power and 319 N-m of Torque.
Indian-Spec launch
Since Volkswagen Group focusing on its SUVW strategy in India which includes VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq , therefore we expect the 2021 Volkswagen Polo MK6 facelift to Launch in India in next year Q1.
