Once again, the Volkswagen–Skoda team proved the Safety DNA in their vehicles by receiving a 5-star GNCAP safety certification, for Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Commenting on the results, Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India said, “Safety has always been part of our DNA, and that continues to be a focus for us with our current and future product portfolio.
The highest safety rating from Global NCAP for the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus further cements the Group’s position as the leading European car manufacturer with the safest portfolio of cars in India.
Skoda Slavia/ Volkswagen Virtus- Adult occupant crash test rating
In terms of adult occupant protection, both sedans received 29.71 out of 34 points. The Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus provide adequate protection to the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, knees, and thighs in the front impact test. Front passenger chest protection was also sufficient.
Both sedans performed well in the side impact test, providing acceptable protection for the head, chest, and abdomen. The pelvic region was likewise well-protected. In the side pole impact test, the curtain airbags provided adequate protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis, but only limited protection for the chest.
Skoda Slavia/ Volkswagen Virtus- Child occupant crash test rating
The Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus have secured 42 points out of 49 in Child Occupant protection. During a frontal impact test, a child seat for a 3-year-old prevented head exposure, offering complete protection. However, the 18-year-old seat also ensured complete protection by preventing head exposure

When it comes to safety, both vehicles have three-point seatbelts for all seats, including the middle rear, adjustable headrests for all passengers, up to six airbags, seat belt warning, ISOFIX Child Seat Anchorage, Speed Sensing Door Lock, Park Distance Control (rear), Rear View Camera, Multi-Collision Brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Rain and Light sensors, Hill Hold Control, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Differential Lock System, etc.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R/ Alto K10- Receives safety ratings of 1-2 Stars
Other than the Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus, two more cars were tested, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R and Alto K10, but the high scores for the Volkswagen-Skoda duo contrast sharply with the results for the other cars tested by Global NCAP in the most recent round of crash tests. The five-star ratings for the Slavia and Virtus were accompanied by a one-star rating for the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and a two-star rating for the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.
