The naming nomenclature of the ŠKODA KUSHAQ derives its origin from Sanskrit, and the word ‘KUSHAK’ denotes KING or EMPEROR. Thus the new KUSHAQ personifies its moniker and reflects upon its 125 years of history and heritage.

As part of the ‘INDIA 2.0’ project, ŠKODA AUTO is in charge of the Volkswagen Group’s planned model campaign on the Indian market and will be producing new models locally based on the sub-compact platform MQB A0, initially focusing on India (MQB-A0-IN).
ŠKODA and Volkswagen will be developing various models on the MQB A0-IN platform. This involves vehicles tailored to the needs of customers in the India. To ensure maximum market proximity, ŠKODA AUTO will achieve radical localization of 95 percent, meaning that almost all vehicle components will be made in India.This will help the company to aggressively price the product against its rivals such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Skoda Kushaq engine options
Skoda Kushaq will offer 2 TSI engines, the lower variants getting the 110hp, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI engine (used in the current Skoda Rapid). This engine will be available with either a manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox.
The higher variants will be get a more powerful 150hp, 1.5-litre TSI engine that is expected to come paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
Expected Price
The introductory price of Skoda Kushaq is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 11.5 lakh(ex-showroom)
The Rivals
The Skoda Kushaq will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Nissan Kicks and its sibling the Volkswagen Taigun.
