Mahindra has finally started working on its first SUV coupe – the XUV900. Earlier it has been assumed that the next-gen Alturas G4 ( MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner rival ) will get the “XUV900” nameplate but according to the sources-Mahindra wants to sell its Korean Sub-brand SsangYong as it is not performing well in the international market. So Mahindra has decided to go solo this time.
The XUV900 is basically a production version of Mahindra’s XUV Aero concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The XUV Aero concept resembled the outgoing XUV500. When showcased, The XUV Aero got so many accolades from media and car enthusiasts but Mahindra might have been uncertain to put it into production half a decade ago.
Since the XUV500 is going to be replaced by XUV700 soon, therefore the upcoming XUV900 four-door SUV-coupe will share its mechanical bits with the XUV700.
