Mahindra has finally introduced the much-anticipated Thar 4X2 and revamped the variant line-up of the SUV. The new 2023 Mahindra Thar 4X2 has been launched in India at an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, (ex-showroom). As a result, here are some important details about the car that you should be aware of if you intend to purchase one:
Mahindra Thar 4×2- Comes with a Smaller 1.5-litre Diesel Engine
The SUV will continue to be available with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol engine remains the 2.0-litre mStallion from its larger sibling, the diesel engine has been replaced with the smaller 1.5-litre unit found in the XUV300. This results in 117 hp of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, it is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine, on the other hand, continues to produce 150 hp and 320 Nm of peak torque.
Mahindra Thar 4×2- Comes Equipped with an Electronic Locking Differential
Mahindra has also made a minor change to the Thar 4X4 by replacing the mechanical locking differential with an electronic one. According to the company, this differential allows the system to kick in more aggressively in low-traction environments, allowing for better grip.
Mahindra Thar 4×2- Comes only with Hardtop Roof Option
The Thar 4X2 is only available with a hardtop roof, while the 4X4 is only available with a soft-top convertible. The Thar 4X2 is available in two trim levels: AX (O) and LX, for a total of three variants.
Mahindra Thar 4×2- Features
The Thar 4×2 has the same 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system as the Thar, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, hill descent control, traction control, roof-mounted speakers, LED DRLs, and reclining rear seats. A roll cage, ABS, ESC, and two airbags are standard safety features.
