The highly anticipated 2025 BMW X3 has officially broken its cover, unveiling a stunning fourth-generation model with a completely fresh look, reflecting a design philosophy akin to the XM and iX lineup. Here’s a breakdown of its exterior design, interior features, and expected launch details:
Design
First and foremost, the new BMW X3 is now slightly bigger, expected to be more practical with a 34 mm increase in length over its predecessor, measuring 4,755 mm. The width has also grown by 29 mm to 1,920 mm. With a 25 mm drop in vehicle height to 1,660 mm and wider tracks, it exudes a powerful and sporty look.
At the front, the new headlights resemble those of the BMW X1, enhancing sharpness. The LED headlights feature L-shaped daytime running lights, side lights, and turn signal indicators, complemented by a new grille structure with vertically and diagonally arranged bars.
From the side, bold side skirts and a roofline extending deep into the rear end define its modern and sporty silhouette. The flush-mounted rear window is bordered by a long roof spoiler and side air deflectors. Standard equipment includes 18-inch light-alloy wheels (19 inches for the BMW X3 30e xDrive), with optional 20-inch and 21-inch sizes available.
Interior and Features:
Inside, the new BMW X3 features the BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, steering wheels with a flat-bottomed rim, and a redesigned gear selector lever. Standard features include electrically adjustable and heated sport seats upholstered in Econeer, multi-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS with auto park function, full LED lighting, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, Harman Kardon surround sound system, Travel & Comfort System, and Adaptive LED Headlights.
The Comfort Package adds rear sun blinds, front active seat ventilation, and rear seat heating. Optional features include a fixed panoramic glass sunroof, steering wheel heating, rear sun protection glass, and a pre-heating function. The BMW X3 30e xDrive variant includes BMW IconicSounds Electric for special sound effects.
Standard safety features comprise front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info, Driving Assistant with Lane Change Warning, and manual Speed Limit Assist. The Parking Assistant includes a Reversing Assistant and a Reversing Assist Camera. Optional systems like Steering and Lane Control Assistant, automatic Speed Limit Assist, and Parking Assistant Professional enhance safety and manoeuvrability.
Cargo space is expanded to 570 litres, 20 litres more than the outgoing model.
Performance:
The new BMW X3 offers four versions: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and a high-performance petrol variant.
The India-bound models are likely to include the 20 xDrive with a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 208hp and the 20d xDrive with a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 197hp. The plug-in hybrid 30e xDrive combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 299hp and electric-only range of up to 90 km.
The performance-oriented BMW X3 M50 features a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine producing nearly 400hp, making it the most potent petrol six-cylinder in an M-light model.
Expected India Launch:
According to BMW’s official press release, the market launch of the 2025 BMW X3 will commence in Europe and the USA in the fourth quarter of 2024, followed by other markets from January 2025. The new X3 is expected to arrive in India in early 2025, offering a blend of luxury, performance, and advanced technology that sets new standards in its class.
