Exter is the name Hyundai has given to its upcoming subcompact SUV. The Exter will be Hyundai’s eighth SUV, sitting below the Venue in the brand’s SUV lineup. As a result, the car will compete with vehicles such as the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Citroen C3, and others.

Hyundai Exter- Exterior Profile
The Exter will be similar to the Tata Punch in appearance but will have a more upright and boxy stance. While the SUV has been spotted with heavy camouflage on Indian roads, some visible design cues include a split headlamp assembly similar to the Venue, daytime running LEDs, and LED projectors in higher-spec variants. The higher variants will also include 15-inch machined alloy wheels, roof rails, LED inserts in the tail lamps, and a single-pane sunroof.
Hyundai Exter- Interiors/ Features
In terms of interiors, the car will have dual-tone black and beige upholstery for the cabin, which is a standard feature of Hyundai vehicles. Aside from that, The Exter is expected to have touchscreen infotainment with the BlueLink connectivity suite. Climate control, ambient lighting, and navigation may also be included.
Hyundai Exter- Engine/ Transmission Options
The Exter’s base engine will be the same 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol found in the Venue, Grand i10 Nios, and Aura. As previously reported, the second engine option will be a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which could join the lineup later. As a result, the Exter’s inclusion of Hyundai’s 1.0 T-GDi turbo-petrol engine gives it an advantage over the popular Tata Punch, which does not offer a turbo-petrol option.
Hyundai Exter- Rivals
The Exter is likely to compete in the sub-4 metre compact SUV segment, which has been seeing a lot of action with models such as the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Citroen C3, etc.
