The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 2022 has been released in India, with prices beginning at Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The model comes in four variants, each with six monotone colour options. Bookings for the Rs 11,000 entry-level hatchback, which will be sold alongside the Alto 800, are now open. So, let’s see how the hatchback compares to one of its competitors, the Renault Kwid 1.0L.

When compared to the new-generation Maruti Alto K10, the Renault Kwid performs better in length, width, and even wheelbase. On paper, the Kwid appears to have more space due to its longer wheelbase. It is also wider, measuring 1579mm versus 1490mm for the Alto.

The Heartect platform underpins the new Alto K10. A dynamic honeycomb grille highlights the fascia, which is complemented by larger peppy headlamps. The car is mounted on 13-inch steel wheels with honeycomb-themed covers. The rear profile is enhanced by redesigned combination lamps. The hatchback comes in six colours, three of which are new: Solid White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Sizzling Red (new), Speedy Blue (new), and Earth Gold (new).
The Renault Kwid, on the other hand, has an SUV-inspired front fascia with a three-slat grille and split headlamp design. The main headlamp is housed in the lower unit, while the DRLs and turn indicators are housed in the upper unit. Faux skid plates, bold bumpers, C-shaped LED tail lights, dual-tone flex wheels, a blacked-out B-pillar, and contrast-coloured ORVMs are among the design highlights. The Kwid is available in a variety of monotone colours, including Moonlight Silver and Zanskar Blue. Furthermore, the vehicle is now available in two new dual-tone colours: Metal Mustard and Ice Cool white with a black roof.

Grey seats with beige accents are standard on the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. It also gets a redesigned dashboard with a floating seven-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and other SmartPlay Studio apps. Furthermore, the vehicle receives premium accentuation for freshness. Steering-mounted audio and voice controls, front and rear door speakers, a digital speedometer display, front power window switches on the instrument panel, and remote keyless entry are among the features.
The Renault Kwid comes with dual-tone seats as well as an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as electrically adjustable ORVMs. Depending on the variant, the hatchback also includes reverse parking sensors and a camera with guidelines.

This engine is available with both a five-speed manual transmission and an AGS system. The manual transmission claims a fuel efficiency figure of 24.39kmpl, while the AGS version claims a figure of 24.90kmpl.
The Renault Kwid is available in two engine options: 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre. At 5,678rpm, the former produces 53bhp and 72Nm at 4,386rpm. At 5,500rpm, it produces 67bhp and 91Nm at 4,250rpm. Both engines come standard with a five-speed manual transmission, with AMT available only on the 1.0-litre variant. The 0.8-litre engine is rated at 22.25kmpl by ARAI.
